Web design studio
Simple websites for local businesses.
We build you a real website, put it on your domain, and keep it running. You pay $230 the first time: the $200 build plus your first month. Then $30 a month. You see the finished site before you pay anything.
- First payment
- $230once
- Every month after that
- $30a month
The $230 is the $200 build plus your first month of hosting, on one card entry. Nothing is charged until you have seen the site and said yes.
What we do
Three jobs, and that is the whole service.
Linework is a one-person web design studio in the United States. We make small business websites: the kind that tell someone what you do, where you are, when you are open, and how to reach you.
We build it
Hand-written code, not a template. Your services, your hours, your photos, your phone number. Usually one to five pages.
We put it online
On your own domain, with HTTPS. If you don't have a domain we buy one for you (up to $25 a year) and it stays in your name.
We keep it running
Hosting, updates, and small changes. Send us new hours or a new photo and we make the change. You don't touch anything.
Who we build for
- Plumbers, electricians, HVAC, landscapers, roofers
- Barbers, salons, nail and tattoo studios
- Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks
- Cleaners, movers, auto detailers, mobile mechanics
- Dentists, chiropractors, physical therapists, small clinics
- Anyone still running the business off a Facebook page
What we do not build
- Online stores with a real catalog and checkout
- Booking, scheduling, or customer login systems
- Web apps, dashboards, or anything with accounts
- Companies that already have a marketing team
If you need one of those, say so anyway. We will either quote it properly or tell you who to call.
Three trades, three different sites.
Nobody gets the same layout as the shop down the road. These are examples of the kind of site we build, not client work.
Plumber Call button and opening hours above everything else, then the service list. Built to be used one-handed, standing in a basement.
Barber shop Prices, hours, address, one button. A shop that turns people away at 7pm does not need a second page.
Taqueria The menu is the home page. Prices are text, not a photographed chalkboard, so a phone can read them out and Google can index them.
How it works
You see the site before you pay for it.
Most web work starts with a deposit and a promise. We do it the other way round.
We build a preview first
You get a link to a working version of your site. Real pages, real content, on a real address you can open on your phone. Nothing to pay and nothing to sign to see it.
You look at it and tell us
Want the colors changed, a service added, a photo swapped? Reply and say so. Not interested? Ignore the email. We won't chase you and we won't email you again.
You approve, then you pay
Once you say yes, we send a Stripe link. It charges $230: the $200 build and your first month of hosting, on one card entry. That is the first time money changes hands. We never charge before you have seen the site and approved it.
We put it live and keep it running
Your site goes on your domain, usually within two business days of payment. Your first month is already in that $230, so the next $30 comes one month after you paid. Cancel any time.
Pricing
Two prices, and the exact first charge.
There is no quote form, no discovery call, and no third tier that turns out to be the one you actually need.
Your first payment is $230: the $200 build plus your first month of hosting. After that it is $30 a month.
Setup
$200one time
Charged after you approve the preview. Never before. It is billed together with your first month, so the first payment is $230.
What that covers
- A site built for your business, not a template ten other shops also use
- Your services, hours, service area, photos, and contact details
- Click-to-call and a contact form that emails you
- Layouts tested on real phone and tablet sizes, not just a desktop browser
- Local search basics: page titles, descriptions, business schema, sitemap
- HTTPS certificate and a fast host
- Domain registration if you need one, up to $25 a year, in your name
- Keyboard and screen-reader support (WCAG 2.1 AA as the target)
Hosting and maintenance
$30a month
Your first month is part of that first payment. The next charge is one month later, and you can cancel any time.
What that covers
- Hosting and the HTTPS certificate
- Up to four small changes a month: text, photos, hours, prices, staff
- Software and security updates
- Uptime checks, and we fix it when something breaks
- Email support at lucas@linework.dev, any hour, any day
- Cancel any time, no fee
The terms, plainly
- Prices are in US dollars.
- Your first payment is $230: the $200 build, charged once, plus your first month of hosting. It is charged after you approve the preview.
- After that, $30 bills every month from the date of that first payment.
- No contract, no minimum term, no cancellation fee.
- Bigger jobs (a store, a booking system, more than about five pages) get a written quote before any work starts. If it is not something we do well, we will tell you.
Not included in either price
- Online stores, checkout, booking systems, or customer logins
- Logo design, photography, or writing your copy from scratch (we work with what you have)
- Paid ads, ad management, or an ongoing SEO campaign
- Domain renewals after the first year (you own it, you renew it at cost)
- Rewrites of the whole site (that is a new build at the same price)
The domain is capped at $25 a year. Anything a reseller is holding for hundreds of dollars, we will not buy for you, and we will say so before we start.
The ones we actually get asked.
Do I have to pay before I see anything?
No. We build the whole thing first and send you a link. If you like it, you pay. If you don't, you close the email and that is the end of it.
What exactly gets charged to my card?
$230 once, then $30 a month. The $230 is the $200 build plus your first month, and both lines are itemised on the Stripe page before you type a card number. The next $30 comes a month later, not immediately.
Do I own the website?
Yes, all of it. The domain is registered in your name, the words and photos are yours, and if you ask for the code we send it. Nothing here is designed to make leaving difficult.
I already have a domain. Can you use it?
Yes, and you keep it exactly where it is. You add two DNS records at your registrar, or send us a screenshot and we will tell you precisely what to type. Your email keeps working throughout.
How long does it take?
Two to three days to get the preview link. Once you approve and pay, it is live on your domain inside two business days.
Is the $30 a month required?
For us to host it, yes. That is what pays for the hosting, the certificate, the updates and your small changes. Your first month is bundled into the $230 either way. If you would rather run it yourself, cancel after launch and we hand over the code, and from then on it is yours to keep working.
What counts as a small change?
New hours, a price, a photo, a staff member, a rewritten paragraph, another service in the list. Four a month are included, and in practice we have never counted. A new page or a redesign is a separate quote.
Can you fix my existing site instead of rebuilding it?
We almost always rebuild, and it costs the same. An old site is usually slower and more awkward to change than starting clean, so you would be paying us to fight it. Your existing text and photos come across.
Do you build online stores?
Not at this price. A real catalog and checkout is a different job, so tell us what you need and we will either quote it honestly or point you at somebody who does that all day.
Who am I actually dealing with?
Lucas, one person, in the United States. Software helps me find businesses and write the first email; everything after you reply is me. Email lucas@linework.dev any hour and you will get a reply.
Contact
Email goes straight to a person.
There is no support queue and no ticket number. Lucas Topinka reads it and answers it.
Want to see what yours would look like?
Send your business name, your town, and what you do. We will build a preview and send you the link. No cost and no obligation to take it.
